Anne of Green Gables

Lucy M. Montgomery

I was HOOKED. Literally one of the best pieces of literature ever. I was so invested in Anne and her “rivalry” with Gilbert. I truly disliked some characters and was in awe of others. One of my absolute favorite aspects of the novel consists of watching all of the characters growing and mature. Characters like Mrs. Lynde and Marilla, who can be stubborn and harsh at times, end up having some soft and vulnerable moments.

Anne is literally a light in this novel. She was not perfect at all, in fact she was new to most of what was happening around her and learned as she went. BUT, everyone loved her personality. Some accepted the fact that they loved her and some hated it and felt intimidated (Josie Pye). However, she made those around her happy, even with her troublesome ways and her red headed temper.

Anne made so much impact on the people around her and in her community. “Anne of Green Gables” is just the first novel of eight! She is immaculate, and reading this novel enhanced my love for literature.
